University of Prizren

The University “Ukshin Hoti” Prizren was established based on Decision 01/87 of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo on 09.10.2009, as the second public university in the Republic of Kosovo, located in the historic capital of Kosovo. The city of Prizren is renowned for its rich ethnic, linguistic, and cultural heritage.

University ‘Ukshin Hoti’ Prizren is a dynamic academic institution dedicated to delivering top-tier education through cutting-edge research and innovation. It is committed to meeting the needs of the job market and serving the local, national, and global communities. At the heart of this commitment is the establishment of the “Center for Research, Innovation, and Knowledge Transfer,” situated in ITP Prizren. The university’s vision is to emerge as a hub of academic excellence, with a strong emphasis on educational research principles and a deep appreciation for ethnic, linguistic, and cultural diversity.

Its key focus areas include Information Technology, Agribusiness, Environmental Studies, Business Management and Administration, Justice, Linguistics, and Education. By prioritizing these fields, the university aims to cater to the needs of students, researchers, and society at large. Our university concentrates its research efforts on six primary disciplines: Information Technology, Agribusiness and Environment, Business Management and Administration, Justice, Linguistics, and Education. Currently, UUHP proudly presents a team of 81 full-time academic staff and 106 part-time lecturers, supported by 50 administrative professionals.

The Faculty of Computer Science (FCS) operates within the framework of “Ukshin Hoti” University in Prizren. Established in 2010, FCS was conceived in response to the market demand for specialists in Information Technology (IT), including network specialists, web application developers, software application developers, computer science engineers, and others in the Prizren region. Moreover, FCS plays a vital role in preparing professionals for the internationalization of regional and local companies through its computer science study programs, thus contributing to the business community.

Prof. Asoc. Dr. Zirije Hasani

Project coordinator /Senior researcher

Dr. Zirije Hasani obtained her PhD in 2019 from Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, Faculty of Computer Science and Engineering, Skopje, North Macedonia. Currently, she holds the position of Associate Professor at the University of Prizren, teaching various courses including Database Systems, Web Design (undergraduate), Advanced Modelling of Databases (graduate), Data Mining, Web Data Extraction, and Introduction to Web Languages and Technologies. With a supervisory role for over 30 students, she possesses mentoring experience across undergraduate and graduate levels. Her research interests encompass Big Data, Data Mining, Real-Time Big Data Analytics, Grid Computing, and Semantic Web. Dr. Hasani actively engages in ERASMUS+ Programme projects such as BESTSDI and PHDICTKES, along with the HORIZON 2020 Programme project SMART4ALL. In 2023, she coordinated two new Erasmus projects, LAIA and ICM, fostering staff and student mobility with Linnaeus University in Sweden. Additionally, Dr. Hasani serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Big Data published by Springer.

Prof.Asoc.Dr. Samedin Krrabaj

Senior researcher

Samedin Krrabaj holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Prishtina, with a thesis on “Modeling, Simulation, and Optimization of Tools for Blanking and Punching.” His research interests lie in Database Systems and Data Mining. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science at the University “Ukshin Hoti” in Prizren. He delivers lectures on various subjects including Database Systems and Computer Architecture.

Prof.Asoc.Dr. Ercan Canhasi

Senior researcher

Dr. Ercan Canhasi earned his PhD in 2014 from the Faculty of Computer Science and Informatics, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. Currently, he serves as an Associate Professor at the University of Prizren, teaching undergraduate courses such as Introduction to Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Object-Oriented Programming, and graduate courses including Data Mining. With over 50 students under his supervision, Dr. Ercan has vast experience in guiding both undergraduate and graduate levels. He has authored various educational materials and software packages.

His research spans Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Mining, Knowledge Discovery in Databases, Intelligent Data Analysis, and Cognitive Modeling. Dr. Ercan is affiliated with the Laboratory for Cognitive Modeling research group. As a reviewer, he contributes to esteemed journals like Transactions on Fuzzy Systems and other top-ranked SCI journals. Actively engaged in ERASMUS+ projects like BESTSDI and PHDICTKES, as well as the HORIZON 2020 Programme project SMART4ALL.

Prof.Assoc.Dr. Arsim Susuri

Dr. Arsim Susuri obtained his PhD in 2017 from the Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, Southeast University of Europe, Tetovo, North Macedonia. Currently serving as an Associate Professor at the University of Prizren, he teaches undergraduate courses like Operating Systems, Introduction to Networking, Cloud Computing, and Artificial Intelligence, and graduate courses including Advanced Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and Wireless Sensor Networks. With over 40 supervised students at both levels, Dr. Arsim possesses extensive mentoring experience. His research interests lie in Machine Learning, Real-Time Systems, and the Dark Web. Engaged in projects like PHDICTKES and SMART4ALL, he also contributes as a reviewer for the International Journal of Grid and Utility

Ass. Endrit Fetahi

Junior Researcher

Endrit Fetahi serves as a Full-Time Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Computer Sciences at Ukshin Hoti University in Prizren. He conducts lectures and exercises across various Computer Science disciplines. Having completed both his BSc and MSc studies at the same faculty, he is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Sciences at the South East European University, Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies. As a distinguished student, he has been awarded six different scholarships at both university and national levels. Proficient in multiple foreign languages, including German, English, Turkish, and Albanian, he holds international certifications. Additionally, he contributes to the Quality Assurance Committee at the faculty level, leads teaching activities at the Faculty of Computer Sciences, and is a member of the UUHP Senate. Endrit has authored several research papers published in esteemed journals and conferences indexed in prestigious databases such as Web of Science and Scopus. He possesses extensive industry experience in the IT sector, supported by tangible evidence.

Ass.Arta Misini

Junior researcher

Arta Misini is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, Southeast University of Europe, Tetovo, North Macedonia. Her research focuses on Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. She actively contributes to teaching by lecturing and assisting in subjects such as Machine Learning, Introduction to Programming, Algorithms and Data Structures, and Object-Oriented Programming.
